Specialty Insurance and Reinsurance
Catlin US was formed in April 2006 as the fourth underwriting platform of Catlin Group Limited. Over the past 23 years, Catlin Group Limited has evolved into a leading global specialty insurer and reinsurer, writing more than $3.4 billion annually* in gross premiums, and consisting of the Catlin Syndicate (largest syndicate at Lloyd's), Catlin Bermuda, Catlin UK, and Catlin US.
A Business for the Future
Focused on strategic and sustainable growth, Catlin US has developed both organically and through acquisition. Standard & Poor’s does not assign financial strength ratings per se to individual Lloyd’s syndicates. However, Standard & Poor's offers an opinion on syndicates’ business continuity characteristics in the form of a Lloyd’s Syndicate Assessment (LSA). LSAs evaluate the relative dependency of syndicates on Lloyd's infrastructure and the Lloyd’s Central Fund, reflecting their ability to offer business continuity to policyholders. The assessments range from '1' to '5'; a higher assessment indicates a lower dependency on the Central Fund and therefore a greater ability to offer business continuity. The Catlin Syndicate has been assigned an LSA of '4' (low dependency). The LSA was affirmed, with a stable outlook, on December 14, 2009.
